SOLAND ANGEL is a duo based in Basel-Stadt, consisting of Marianna Angel and Yanik Soland. Angel is a trained pianist and improviser who incorporates various keyboard instruments and vocals in their live performances. Yanik Soland is a musician and artist specializing in self-built instruments, electric bass, and modular synthesizers.

Their collaboration began in 2019 during a concert in Rotterdam, where they explored their initial improvisational approaches. Soland's background in visual arts led to invitations for concerts in the context of exhibitions and performance events, such as Art Basel, Various Others (Munich), and Galerie Anton Janizewski (Berlin). Subsequently, they received requests to perform in a contemporary concert setting, including at Kaserne Basel alongside Laurel Halo.

The duo's musical interests revolve around the intersection of free improvisation and open compositional concepts, often based on their own forms of notation. In addition to their work as the SOLAND ANGEL duo, both musicians are actively involved in theater contexts and new music projects. For example, in 2023, they collaborated with Lukas Huber and UFO at Gare du Nord Basel. Moreover, they have been selected for a residency at the Cité des Arts in Paris in 2024.
